The last three months has been quite hectic for us. As institutions re-open for a full academic year, our foundation has received more than usual calls for help. Even though we have had slight reprieve post covid lockdown, there are still substantial amount of families (daily wagers) still trying to wiggle out of economic pressure.
Vidhyavruksha Foundation has been working hard to ensure that these kids are not denied access to education and we have tried to fulfill most requests to the best of our efforts. With the help of our donors and sponsors, we have funded education fees worth Rs. 3.5 lacs to the following requests. But this is not all and we will do a follow up post to share some more requests that we have fulfilled this year,.
In January, we posted a request for a student Tamizh,S. You can read the full post here. We managed to pay his dues of Rs. 50,000/- that has now helped him to pursue his IInd year.
Similarly, we received a request from an auto driver to help support the education of his two daughters Jacintha and Jerlin (Full post here). We have been able to help the two kids by paying close to Rs. 50,000/-
Another critical request that came to us last year was for a student from Bangalore, Namrata who is pursuing her BDS. Being the first graduate from her family, it was important she completes her course and Vidyavruksha Foundation is happy to have been able to support this request for two academic years to ensure Namrata completes her degree this year.
In March, we got a request from a mom (domestic helper) who was struggling to make ends meet but wanted his son Thameem to complete his graduation. Vidyavruksha Foundation funded his education with Rs. 43,000/- to complete his 2nd year of studies.
Another complicated request coming from a joint family to support the education fees for his son and his sister’s two daughters. Ms Shreyas, VIII std – Rs 40, 515/- and Ms Shantini , V std – Rs 34, 950 /- and Yushwant, XII std – Rs. 37,424/- . Vidhyavruksha Foundation managed to fulfill this request too and the kids have now been able to pursue their education.
