Earlier this week, the Principal of Sri Sankara Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Thiruvanmiyur reached out to Vidhyavruksha Foundation with a list of 11 students studying between Xth and XIIth for help with tuition fees (totalling upto Rs. 1.36 Lakh) as they were all still reeling from the impact of Covid lockdown and their parents all hailing from a very poor economic background.

The amount was daunting and we were trying all avenues to raise funds to meet this requirement. That is when we also happened to meet someone with a generous and kind heart. He requested us to keep his identity anonymous and came forward to sponsor the term fees for 5 students.

On the eve of Deepavalli, the generous benefactor paid the fees totaling up to Rs. 63,890/- . This includes the first term fees of Rs.11,980/- each for two students – Thaskina Banu and Sinduja of Std Xth and first term fees of Rs. 13,210/- each for three strudents – Gokul, Vignesh Kumar and Vanthana of Std XII. Now these students will receive their books and can start attending their classes without any delay.

While the donor chose to be anonymous, the entire team of Vidhyavruksha Foundation is indebted to the family of the donor and convey our heartfelt wishes and greetings on the auspicious occasion of Deepavalli.

We still need to pay the fees of remaining 6 students and are in the process of raising funds for them. Deepavalli is a festival of lights and donations to help any of these children to pursue education will bring light to them and their families.
